Solar structures in open areas and roof installations are under our scope of expertise. 

We also provide geotechnical soil investigation studies in order to choose proper fixing type of solar structure. Additionally our solar park site supervision service offers investors the detail structural diagnosis from the site.

1- Location, photo and installation type informations from the investor or contractor are provided.
 
2- The existing roof is inspected by at least two technical personnel and the as-built drawings are produced. Each area where the solar panel will be installed is specified. Both load bearing capacity and electrical point of view are examined. Roofing types, shading, chimney, elevator, ladder tower, parapets are all described in the as-built drawings. The architectural and static projects of the existing structure are obtained from the Employer. If there are any possible mismatches between the application in place and the project, the application is taken as basis. In the case that the project cannot be provided in reinforced concrete structures, the required data is collected with the laboratories (certificated by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning). Approximately fifty issues are processed in the control form at site inspection.
 
3- With the data collected in the on-site inspection and the current building static project, the solar panel roof static controls are started. In addition to design loads of the structure like coating, snow, ice and wind loads defined in the regulations, weight of the solar panel and the mounting elements are imposed on the existing roof structure.
 
4- The solar panel mounting structure type is selected to be compatible with the roof covering. This choice depends on the type of roof as well as the solar panel layout. For this reason, the solar panel layouts that will have uneconomic results will be changed by the evaluation of the electricity design author. Member part lengths, hole spacing, connection element types are specified in the project. . “TS498”, “Design, Calculation and Construction Principles of Steel Structures-2016”, “TBDY-2018”, “Eurocode 3-9” regulations are taken as basis.
 
5- As a result of the calculations, if the current capacity of the roof is sufficient to install the solar panel roof, a static compliance report is prepared. If there is a lack of capacity due to the addition of a solar panel or any other reason , the strengthening proposals are submitted to the Employer through a preliminary project. After the approval of the employer, retrofit details are prepared and added to the TEDAŞ Solar Roof Installation Static project. Retrofit works are examined at least once in place.
6- The prepared project and static calculations are first submitted to the administration where is authorized for the building license permission, then to the General Directorate of TEDAŞ or to the provincial organization of the relevant distribution company.
 
7- Static calculation and design of the solar mounting structure are performed under the snow, wind loads. ASCE, Eurocode-1, TS498, “Design, Calculation and Construction Principles of Steel Structures-2016”, TBDY-2018, Eurocode 3-9 regulations are taken as basis. The construction can be composed of a single building material and mixed systems such as steel + aluminium can also be designed.

Soil Investigation works
A sufficient number of drillings, seismic tests, MASW tests are executed according to the GENSER ground survey specification. Field tests and appropriate laboratory tests are carried out by us. Properly executed ground survey work has a direct impact on the correct decison of the mounting table and foundation type.

Structural design of solar mounting system
Static calculation and design of the solar mounting structure for fields are performed under the self weight of pv and structure, snow, wind and seismic loads. ASCE, Eurocode-1, TS498, “Design, Calculation and Construction Principles of Steel Structures-2016”, TBDY-2018, Eurocode 3-9 regulations are taken as basis. Seismic precautions must be taken for solar mounting structure in earthquake prone areas.

Selection of foundation system
The foundation system is selected according to the ground study reports, in terms of the project type among the basic types of pile ramming, pre-drilled concrete infilled piles or reinforced concrete gravity foundations. Ramming of steel piles are relatively economical, fast and generally the most preferred type of support. On the other hand, it is not possible to apply stiff rock profile in the field, with very low bearing capacity or with extreme corrosive ground. In order to eliminate these negative conditions, pre-drilled concrete infilled piles come into consideration. reinforced concrete gravity foundations are applied on soils with low bearing capacity and are preferred due to their long service life and high durability.

Design review of solar mounting system
Design check of solar mounting structure; Design supervision, comprehensive review and paralel calculation of systems are provided according to the local ground conditions and international / local design regulations. Recommendations are given if optimization is necessary. Genoser already provides engineering service to international manufacturers from especially from EU region.

Official approval of design
Genoser prepare static calculation reports and drawings in accordance with the Ministry of Energy project specifications and standards for the unlicensed projects  TEDAŞ General Directorate. In many projects, the follow-up of the construction file technical review process and the necessary revisions are included in our scope of service.

Construction technical supervision
The aim of the Construction Technical Supervision service; 
the inspection of whether the construction of the mounting system of the solar park have been carried out in accordance with the standards and specifications required by the Employer, the local standards and manufacturer specifications by GENSER on behalf of the Employer. 
For existing solar park we give mounting system audit service in order to follow below given check points,

  • Locak buckling of members
  • Torque checks of bolts
  • Check of plastic settlement  or swell of ground soil
